tinos
Tinos Project is an award-winning self-initiated project that rethinks the concepts of traditional Greek food products in terms of product design and packaging. The idea was to develop, from scratch, a family of products that are fundamentally designed to incorporate references from the Greek identity, as well as the traditional production process. The aim was to implement each product a complete overhaul and rethink, not only the graphic design elements of the packaging, but rather the shape and core concept that make up a certain product as well. Both, tradition and sustainability, were worked on to be well incorporated in the skeleton of the products. Tinos island was chosen as a place to provide, besides the specific products originally produced, several triggers for this creative process. The project was initiated and worked on at brand.new design studio in Athens, Greece.

Raki is a sweetened, often anise-flavored, alcoholic drink very famous in Greece, Turkey and the Mediterranean, but also very special in Tinos Island. The concept of the Raki bottle is derived from the condensation process of converting solid matter (grapes) into gaseous form and then liquid. The process is done using a traditional apparatus composed of sugarcane-base material which has an upward tendency through fluctuations to the transparent beverage container material. This upward movement is mostly the highlight of the bottle design where the molded paper pulp forms uprising mountains on the inside.
